You may have read or seen Mary Poppins. It’s about a nanny who comes to live with a family in England, and they do some singing and solve some problems. Well now there’s a film coming out – Saving Mr Banks – about how Walt Disney convinced the cantakerous author of Mary Poppins to let him print money by turning her book into a film. As a thoroughly protective author, her main concern is that Mr Disney really understands the point of the novel. Which, as suggested above, he perhaps does not.
