If you’ve seen any sci fi with oppressive, murderous robots – like, let’s say, The Matrix, Terminator or Battlestar Galactica – then you’ll know that this is how it starts. Combat ready, emotionless, metal hearted death machines. Combat drones have many valuable applications, and being under human control are really no more of a threat than a conventional fighter jet or ballistic missile. So, you know, quite a significant threat actually.
So, if you want to increasingly replace warplanes with unmanned drones, and simultaneously want to reassure the general populace that they won’t go all HAL-9000 on us, maybe the best play isn’t to bestow your newest creation with an evil red eye? Or name it Taranis?!?
