Movie puns

Our father taught us how to behave like men. Respect, chivalry, honour. And puns, so many terrible puns. All dads are master craftsmen when it comes to dad jokes, and with my own first child on the way, it’s high time we got some more practice in.

I saw Saving Mr Banks last night, and it was not entirely true to our earlier comic on the subject. For my money it was a really enjoyable film, with a similar sort of flavour to The King’s Speech, although perhaps not quite as good. Very funny in parts, with a few emotive scenes thrown in, it’s also a strong encouragement to be a good parent to your kids thanks to the flashbacks to the main character’s childhood. Apparently it’s not entirely historically accurate, but then again neither are these comics so perhaps we’re on the same wavelength.

I was sad to read yesterday that Paul Walker passed away following a recent car crash. I’m not alone in having really enjoyed the Fast and the Furious series, and he will be missed. If you’re interested he was in a film I quite like from a few years back called Into the Blue – about a few handsome friends who find a potentially valuable wreck in the Bahamas, then get caught up with some local toughs. If you like Fast and the Furious, you’ll probably like this one.
